A440 String Quartet was formed in late 2015. Comprising 2 Americans, 1 Canadian, and a Englishman, it gave it's inaugural recital in the beautiful and tranquil setting of the Johann Fust library on Boca Grande, Fl.. (Main image). A440's principle aim is to play attractive and interesting concerts that raise money for good causes. Gary has now left SW Florida for Naples so the quartet is "on hold" until a new viola player is found
Led by Ron Erickson, who has "retired" to Florida following a long and distinguished career as a professional chamber musician (mainly in the Bay Area), its other members are Margaret Nichols, Gary Hayes, and Graham Appleton (who all perform regularly with Gulf Coast Symphony (Ft Myers))

NSO had 3 events in Naples, Florida in 2021. On, Sunday March 21, 2021 Nielsen's "Little Suite for Strings" Op 1 was rehearsed, and then played through, as if in performance. The 2 further sessions were on Sunday March 28 (Gounod's 'Petite Symphonie') and on May 2 (Copland's Appalachian Spring - original version).
The 21-22 season was more adventurous; and we found a wonderful venue - Our Saviour Lutheran Church 1955 Curling Ave, 34109. We received a most warm reception from Pastor Greg Schmidt, his family, Bethany the church secretary and members of the congregation. We started with Dvorak Wind Serenade Op 44 followed by Wagner's "Siegfried Idyll"; Humperdinck Dream Pantomime from Hansel and Gretel, Borodin Symphony No 2 (movements 3 and 4) and Elgar Concert-Overture "In the South" with Nimrod as an encore.
The 22-23 season began on Sunday November 6 in Our Saviour Lutheran Church with Prokofiev's Lieutenant Kijé Suite which was well received followed by the Wind Serenade Op 7 by Richard Strauss and movements of Mozart's "Gran Partita" K 361 (November 12 2022). Adderbury Arts Association is running a Rehearsal Orchestra in Naples, SW Florida, called Naples Symphony Orchestra. NSO rehearses a short(ish) piece (or movements) during a 3hr session, and then “performs” it to ourselves. All over in an afternoon. It is a good opportunity to share interesting repertoire, to study it, meet like-minded musicians, and then to play a work through as if in a concert. It has turned out to be popular, congenial, and we have attained a good standard
